Working Moms

Working mum or stay at home mum.

I read an article recently about working mums and stay at home mums in a magazine.

We see lots of these articles portraying working mums depriving their children during their growing and formative years. Then we see articles about stay at home mums doing themselves a disservice by neglecting there own development and their future.

What do these two types of mums have in common?

They made a decision that that’s what they wanted to do at this motherhood period of life. We seem to forget that they are entitled to make that decision and it was probably made in discussion with their partner.

We have heard of working mums where children grow up maladjusted and it has been blamed just on that fact. But we have also heard of children growing up maladjusted where the mother is a stay at home mum.

In all this probably means that it is the method of bringing up your child that is important not whether you’re a working mum or a stay at home mum.

I would thing that a mum who wants to work and stays at home instead would have an adverse subconscious affect on her child even if she does not think she does.

Alternatively a mum that goes to work but would rather be home with her children would have the same affect.

The only difference with the above would be that the mum who works and would rather be at home with her children may have to work because of financial reasons. In some countries this is alleviated because of generous governmental allowances given to stay at home mums and in most cases also to working mums who usually have the additional expense of finding child care.

But in all, this doesn’t matter. It’s what the mums feels she needs to do for her own peace of mind and wellbeing as well as the children’s.

I abhor these people who make working mums feel guilty. I also abhor those people who put down the stay at home mum as they see it as women once again being put on and neglect to understand that these mums are intelligent thinking people

So what have we here.

The "stay at home mum" who loves being with her children and prefers that to working.

The working mum who manages (and they do) her working life in conjunction with looking after her children adequately.

The only thing that disappoints me is a lot of the downers are the stay at home mums and the working mums.

Remember mums you each made a decision and you should be respected for the decision you made, after all you are the same as anyone else who have made decisions in their life.

The one and only thing that you should be concerned about is that your children grow up in a loving stable environment.

With the advent of the internet there is a great opportunity for those stay at home mums and also those working mums who would rather  be at home with their children.
